I’ve previously written about the Discovery Dish, a system for weather satellite reception and hydrogen line radio astronomy that was crowd sourced and I ordered one last year. Just got an update on its manufacturing progress and the schedule seems to have slipped by a month and is now expected by July 31st.

World Amateur Radio Day commemorates the formation of the International Amateur Radio Union on April 18, 1925 in Paris. This year’s theme is “A Century of Connections: Celebrating 100 Years of Amateur Radio Innovation, Community, and Advocacy.” There will be many stations participating in on-the-air activities on April 18. They will be using the suffix WARD (for example, Bahrain A91WARD and Germany DA24WARD, to name a few).

The annual QRP to the Field (QRPTTF) event takes place on Saturday April 20th. This one has been a popular staple for decades and, notably, predates POTA by many years. See, I told you, hams did take their equipment into the field long before anyone decided to number all the parks.
